Laboratories are jointly located at Senter Hall in:

Lab 104 (Nanomaterials Lab)    P.I.:  Dr. Dibyendu (Dibs) Mukherjee (Research Professor, CBE Department) and

Lab 116 (Biomaterials Lab)         P.I.:  Prof. Bamin Khomami (Head, CBE Department).

Co-P.I.:   Dr. Dibyendu (Dibs) Mukherjee (Research Professor, CBE Department)

Our research focuses on the fundamental science and engineering revolving around:

  • Synthesis of advanced nanomaterials with engineered functionality using tandem Laser Ablation Synthesis in Solution-Galvanic Replacement Reaction (Tandem LASiS-GRR) (Lab 104)

  • Intermetallic nanomaterials as photocatalysts and electrocatalysts for fuel and photoelectrochemical cells (Lab 104)

  • Directional assembly of Photosystem I (PS I) into organic/inorganic interfaces as photoactive substrates  (Lab 116)

  • Solar fuel conversions via “Artificial Photosynthesis” (Labs 104 & 116)

  • Thermoelectric materials (Lab 104)

  • Energetic nanomaterials for solid-state propulsions and combustion (Lab 104)

  • Advanced Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) for quantitative analysis of biomolecules, semiconducting materials and metal/intermetallic nanoparticles (Lab 104)

  • Interactions of metal/intermetallic nanomaterials with lipid bilayer membranes mimicking human cell membranes for environmental and healthcare studies (Lab 104)
